QR Codes

Raise your hand if you know what a QR Code is. If you didn’t raise your hand, read on. If you did raise your hand, read on. If it’s some other option, read on. Get it . . . read on.

What you see to your left is  called a QR code. They are free to make and have a ton of potential for helping you get clients . . . after all, isn’t that why you read No Stone Left Unturned every month.

I’ll tell you how to make one in a second. But first, get out your smart phone and download the “scan” app (for iPhones). I’m not sure the name on the Droid platforms. Just search the app store for QR Scanners. You’ll easily find a free one.

Now that you’ve done that, use your new app to scan a picture of the QR code here to your left. Voila, your smart phone just took you to Stone Cold Magic.

Well imagine instead that it goes to your site where clients can see a video of you performing. It’s simple to make:

  1. Go to this site: Qurify
  2. Type in your web (or video) URL in the “message” box
  3. Click the “Qurify” Button
  4. Download the QR Image

That’s it. You can now give this image to your business card printers so that they can add the image to your business cards. Then when you hand out your cards, you can point out the QR Code on the back and have them scan it right then and they’ll end up on your site.

From a magic trick perspective, you could create a code that has a message of a forced card. Check out (scan) the QR code on the right. There are likely a bunch of you who already know about QR Codes and are thinking “duh, Jeff.” Yes, this is a simple idea that many of your may have thought of already. However, for those who aren’t aware of them I wanted to spread the word. There are a ton of uses for these things . . . post your ideas below.

This can be a very powerful tool. I’m just sayin’ . . .

Until Next Month . . .
