I was thinking of doing a couple mentalism effects, then Blackpool effect which starts as mentalism but ends as magic to transition to magic, but it is a very strong effect might be hard to follow.

@OZ – Good question. I don’t really worry too much about the difference between the two. At the most, I might say something like this: “Let’s try a couple of things with the mind.” I know . . . blase, but it works.

I would give this a couple extra stars if I could. I am a little insecure about my routining and have read a lot about it but this article is by far the best, explains it and give examples, nice job Jeff. My question is this; what is the best way to routine magic and mentalism together? or should you keep them separate? What I am thinking is six effects three magic and three mentalism. The only spot I am pretty sure is the closer will be ‘Card Calling’ from the Osterlind DVD because its pretty hard to follow that.

@Steven – it’s all played by ear. If they enjoy the first effect, I’ll spent maybe 10 minutes, but generally it’s about 5 minutes. Also, another good tip for receptions is to hit everyone with just one or two tricks, then come back to the ones who enjoyed it the most and spend more time with them.

So, I see there is around 5 tricks. What is the amount of time you are looking to spend at a table performing? 10, 15 minutes?
