(Ark vs. Titanic). I know what you mean about the hack. The only thing worse than a hack that charges $300 is a hack that charges $50. Those guys get hired by everyone and ruin our already tainted image as magicians.

One reason I got back into magic was I was so disgusted with the quality of the “full time children’s magician” that I hired ($300 for a 45 minute show) for my son’s sixth birthday. The guy was a knob – annoying, not funny, and not magical. I suspected I was a much better magician when I was 12 than this “pro” was, so that lit the flame again, and it burning more than ever now.

Remember – “The Ark was built by amateurs. The Titanic was built by professionals.”

Let me stew on that for a bit. That might be a good way to relight the Pillars of Stone flame.

Did you have any specific topics in mind?

That in mind, I would like to suggest another category the ‘unpaid pro’ for those of us that give the art the time and attention it deserves but do not do it for pay.
