I don’t know if you are comfortable with mentioning it here or not but do you have a source or 2 that would be a good place for purchasing this type of 2 faced card.

In reply to zdm. @ZDM - Although, technically this is a gaffed, card, I wouldn't quite consider it a gaffed card because it is handled and examined by the spectator. I think this is a different situation.

The doublefacer isn’t a ‘gimick’, it’s just a playing card with 2 faces. You can hand it out and they can do whatever because you got nothing to hide (particularly in this case).

I do not like the gaff card. Just use some paper to make one, avoid use the gimmick

@Dan – Thanks. It’s one of my favorites. I pretty much always have that card in my shirt pocket when I do strolling Gigs.

@PEto – I’m with you. It’s frustrating to see how ticked off people can get about this stuff and assume the worst. Steve proved that he’s a class act.

Thanks for the final two paragraphs about similar effects with different creators. This kind of thing is bound to happen, and it is refreshing to see it handled in a polite, professional, and even civil manner. Let’s all give props when due and be willing to be humble if someone points out that our “orignal” idea has already been in use…

This sounds like a really great effect. I like the idea of putting the card inside a trading card protector. I bought a dozen card protectors at a dollar store over a year ago, knowing I’d find a magical use for them.

Thanks for giving this effect away, as I really think it’ll play well.

The whole “misprinted card” idea is fantastic, and I can see using the same theme for other effects as well.

Hey gang,

Just wanted to update everyone. Take a peek above at the last paragraph. It was added today (6/10/09) to update the crediting on this effect.

This is basically an independent re-invention of a Steve Beam effect, “Siamese Stab.”
